Ok so, after 32k happy miles, on Sunday the R3 suddenly sprung a fairly serious oil leak from what appears to be the front / left side of the rocker cover, this was accompanied by a 'burning tyre' smell. Got oil all over the headers, my leg, etc.

Checked rocker cover bolts - TIGHT.

Any ideas / history before I drop it in the shop?
If you had it serviced for the valves they probably reused the gasket and it finally let loose. New one or permatex should help.

If you have triple filters its time to clean the crank case vent or pressure will have to go somewhere. If the gasket was weak this could be what your experiencing.

well at least now the local RAT pack wont accuse us of snubbing them and only riding with other Rockets! DRAMA!!!

Well I said I'd get back to you... I am not sure what it was - When I went to ride the bike in for repair, it blew out the oil filler cap and covered me in about a gallon (probably a pint) of oil. So I called and had them come pick it up. I told them what was wrong / had happened and requested 30k service and fix issue... Well they damaged the tank and bars transporting the bike, so long story short, after a lot of haggling, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I traded the Rocket in against a 2012 Connie. So, I wish you all safe riding fun and I'll see you on the road sometime.

Geez.... oh well. Good luck on the Connie... one of them (tear in the Universe now...) beat me at a traffic light but the rider knows not to attempt a second time.... :smoking:
