New 06 Classic (100% stock) with 250 miles on odometer
On starting, turn key to on position all idiot lights come on and both gauge pointers sweep from 0 to max then return to 0.
Hit starter button and apart from a click nothing (in neutral and side stand up)
Turn key to off then back to on position all idiot lights come on and both gauge pointers sweep from 0 to max then return to 0
Hit starter button engine starts normally
Sometimes key back to off then back to on has to be done several times before engine will start.
Sometimes engine fires up straight away. (this happens whether engine hot or cold so don't think its temperature related)
Also during break in period idle RPM has been around 800rpm, noticed yesterday whilst riding that tacho jumping around about with a span of 1200rpm even with throttle held at same position and no change in engine sound.
At stop idle RPM had increased to 1200RPM, however when engine switched off (using key not kill switch) tacho needle dropped to 400RPM not 0
Has anyone seen these symptoms, and know how to remedy them:-
I have trawled through Technical Chat archive and can see no other messages about this problem other than speedo problems.
Are these probleme linked? bad starter motor ground? duff engine speed sensor?, bad wiring connection?, is a trip to dealer to hook up diagnostic tool to get error codes on the cards?
Any help gratefully appreciated
PS Does anyone know the cost of one of those Triumph Diagnostic Tools? megabucks?
