I just qualified for the Iron Butt. Had a trip from Austin, TX to Detroit, MI. Thought why not try.The R3 and darkside Ran great I got about 37mpg at 65-75 mph. Sent paper work off and waiting for the offical word!

Cool! I keep thinking about doing one. Not going to do it though. Last week I did a run from Melbourne FL to Beaufort SC with only one stop for fuel. Only about 300 miles. Took me two days to really recover. When I got off the interstate I couldn't seem to ride very well. Seems the long straight ride on the superslab really got my body out of whack. How did you feel when you got there?

My 1051 miles took me to the north side of Indianapolis, IN where I had an IBA member to sign the wittness form. Then caught a few hours of sleep before going on to Detroit. Stayed there for two days then to Davenport, IA. Spent the afternoon with a son and headed back to TX. Total of 7 1/2 days gone 5 Days riding 3001 miles. Felt ok when I got to MI went on a couple of 100 mile rides with my cousin while there. at this time I dont think Iwill do an Iron Butt again. The 1051 took me 22:46 I made a lot of stops.

I should have tried that last year when I went from Key West to Molino (855 miles) I had only used up (5:30 am EST to 9:30 CST) 17 hours for that distance and I don't believe that I was going over "their" prescribed speed limit "limits". If I did then I'd be more proud of doing the distance "my way" and not worry about certification. I'm not much for the "doing it officially or you may as well of not made the trip in the first place because it doesn't count" type of ride.

But don't get me wrong, you did it and got recognized and anyway you look at it that is one heck of a ride....especially when you consider the additional miles you did.

Congratulations!

Dennis

The Utopia backrest lets me ride all day as long as I care to. I'm always the last guy to stop.
