Most boring 160 kms of road in NZ

Was so lucky to follow a HD from Ashburton to ChCh coming back from the Burt. Kept me from losing my mind and my license.

Is that a normal Kiwi road surface? - Grippy and like a rubber-rasp - Would sir care to try on diesel, fine sand and powdered sheep poo? - This week they resurfaced the road to where I work. Even 2 days later - the tar was still fluid. It is going to be like glass in autumn.

We get all sorts of surface here.
A couple of weeks ago I did a big slide on a wet, smooth corner, fair shat myself !

But yea' that Volcanic rock is generally pretty grippy stuff, hard on tyres tho' ....

Pfffft....a bloody scenic drive i reckon...have a look at Balladonia to Caiguna in my part of the world - 146 kms without a bend. The real kicker is the 2 100ish km long sections before and after that don't have bends either

Pfffft....a bloody scenic drive i reckon...have a look at Balladonia to Caiguna in my part of the world - 146 kms without a bend.

I suppose the name "90 mile straight" is a bit of a give away. And no trees to slip behind for a pee.
