Silly question time...

I run carbon wheels and i've measured & calculated that the tyre on my carbon front wheel is 5.5 % smaller than the stock tyred wheel ,so if I use TuneEcu do I increase or decrease the speed adjust % to get a more accurate speedo reading?

The front wheel has nothing to do with it. The speed measurement is taken from a unit which is attached to the drive train. Changes in the back wheel may affect it.

Just curious if Roadster and Touring have the same final drive gear ratio ? I have read on here about ppl changing tyre size , is this the only way to play with gearing ?
Final drive ratio on my '14 R3R is 2.846:1 (37/13), taken from my owner's manual.

Primary drive ratio: 1.034:1 (91/88)
1st gear ratio: 2.929:1 (41/14)
2nd gear ratio: 1.947:1 (37/19)
3rd gear ratio: 1.435:1 (33/23)
4th gear ratio: 1.160:1 (29/25)
5th gear ratio: 0.964:1 (27/28)

Just checked the R3T owners handbook online. All identical.

Also, anyone heard of a 6sp overdrive transmission for Rockets, or even just a taller 5th gear?

Really? A sixth gear?
My R3R is doing 80 mph at 3,000 rpm. IMHO, not too bad and it leaves me close to the power band if I wish to grease somebody without downshifting. :D
Thanks for looking up the Rocket gear ratios!

If you get your GPS out you will find that you are really doing 75 at 3,000RPM, but even apart from that, if you are eating up a lot of Interstate then it would be great to drop those revs down to 2,200 or 2,400RPM. It would be less tiring, less wear on the engine, and give better fuel economy.

If you think about it, the T'bird, and even HDs with a 6 speed box, are doing the same revs at that speed - but they have only two bangs compared with our three. Therefore the RIII should be able to do those speeds at 2,000RPM! However, I would be happy at 2,200 or 2,400.

I'm not planning to at this stage, although I am riding up to Canada next week, and, hopefully, down south in a month or so.

like where are you crossing the border on your way north?

yes I heard something about a kit for a sixer then I woke up before getting the numbers !!

We a splitting hairs here, but I shall admit mine is not exactly on 80 at 3000 rpm: however, it's much closer to 80 than it is to 75.
My speedo and Zumo GPS are cinched with the Exedra Max.

Hell yeah a 6th gear! As much as I like to flog this bike, I do go on longer rides where not everyone I meet is trying to race me. 2,000 rpm at 80 mph sounds about perfect. It's not something I'd drop a ton of money on, just think it would be nice.

I see Baker Drivetrain has a lot of gearbox options for Harleys. Wonder if they'd touch a Rocket... http://bakerdrivetrain.com/
