I think your dealer is living in "Carburetor land!" Fuel injected vehicles don't have a fuel shut off valve. At least none that I have seen or heard of! What's wrong with just turning the ignition switch off, taking the key out of the ignition and putting the key in your pocket? ;) Or maybe I'm just an idiot!

Tie the key to your rear wheel and strap it to your back that way you never forget where your key is, but remember to put the rear wheel back on before you drive away:D
All jokeing aside I would be very wary of letting that "mechanic" sit on your bike far less work on it.

Yes I realize its not called a fuel cut off switch especially since its not a diesel but it does cut the power and the gas. I was just wondering if there was a reason or he was full of crap. Thanks guys.

Now don't get your feelings hurt here. We are not laughing at you, but rather the idiot that gave you the information. Mistaken information from dealership employees regarding the Rocket motorcycle is typically misguided at best! At least by the wording in your original post, it would lead one to believe you are referring to the gas tank fuel shut off valve. That device has been gone, to the best of my knowledge, since bikes started coming equipped with fuel injection.

The basic reason the carburetor models came with a fuel shut off valve was to keep from having fuel leak by from the needle and seats. Motorcycles and lawn mowers and such were famous for fuel leakage past the needle and seats. So was the Ford Model A. Reason being, the fuel tank is mounted higher than the carburetor. In automotive applications, the fuel tank was mounted lower than the carburetor and most often at the rear of the vehicle. Clear as mud? :D

I don't know about you guy's but i find it quite worrying what some of these Fecking
