any one running 12 inch--eye-to-eye progressives happen to know the "actual" travel under one-up (170-185 lb.rider) load. ? or any good aftermarket coil over shock. thanks---john

is every poor soul out there as ignorant as me on shock travel. ??? or just stubborn? like it all.--i'll get tha #'s --sooner/later. and ain't given non out !!! --afterwards.. carry on boys!!--

Hey John - I just got back this weekend from a 1500 mile ride down to TN and around the Smokies with the 12" Progressive 412s on. Don't know anything about how to measure travel, but I gotta tell you what a great improvement to the ride - I'm 170lbs and had two bags loaded on the first setting (softest ride) and had no problems riding the Dragon. Only bottomed out twice on a couple severe bumps on the ****ty Illinois roads - would recommend these shocks to anyone

All I know is that with my 12" 440 my ass stays in the seat 95% of the time, not 50% as with the stock shocks. 5'-10" 175# (12.5 stone). Go over a good bumb or pot hole and your butt does leave the seat but not as bad as the stock shocks.

travel measurement----dc and exile

dc and exile--thanks .---don't the 440's have a little rubber over the piston rod that can be pushed up flush w/ piston body at rest? i haven't seen a pr. so i'm in the dark on them. that way it pushes the rubber down to the further-est point it travels while riding. you can then measure from piston body to rubber to measure shock travel. (ie not bike travel from fender to tire on this type swing arm and shock location) that distance is what i'd like to know. if no rubber you can dab colored grease up to piston body and shock will push it down piston rod while riding. thanks---john ps--needs to be on bumpiest road ya ride on.

I don't know if I'm doing this right, John - but looks like from the damper (top of shock under top cover) is about 2" down to the top of the main black piston that surronds the rod:

These (mine) are 412s and not 440s
