Seeking opinions on touring "upgrades"

I have 14,500 miles on my Excedra Max tires right now. Lots of useable tread yet though I do plan to swap them before summer unless I pick up a nail sooner. They feel fine in the rain.

+1 on the Avon Cobras. You can get them V-rated now with whitewalls, ever since Triumph released the Thunderbird LT that has those made especially for it. Handles like a ****ed sports bike (ok, well, not really but very very nice) and looks like a million bucks doing it, what's not to love?

What size do you have on the front? Does the Touring run smaller than the 150 on my Standard?

I am changing from Metz to Exedra Max (240-55) rear and Michelin Commander 2 (140-75) on the front based on Phil's recommendation.

My front tire is 150/80R 16 and rear is 200/60R 16

Another option for a fairing. My touring is the best bike that I have owned and I had a few bikes over the years. You cant go wrong with a rocket.

A bone stock touring will eat v twins for breakfast! Add a D and D pair of slip-ons and a tune and hold on.

Ahh, different front diameter. My 05 Standard has a 17 inch.

Hi All,

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your input on this thread. I picked up my 2014 R3T on Saturday and had it out for it's first ride today (the first day since that the temps broke 32 degrees).

I enjoyed the ride very much finding it powerful yet nimble and light. I'm looking forward to adding a full fairing. I have a bad neck so getting the wind over my face allows me to enjoy much longer days on the bike. Also on the short list will be slip on exhaust, K&N filter, tuning, and a seat with backrest.

I'll be looking forward to changing the exhaust note. To the chagrin of many, I like my bikes LOUD. Wish they made that Carpenter Racing exhaust for the Touring model.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but a pair of Kuryakyn ISO grips will make a world of difference. I was getting a buzz through the handlebars on mine that was fairly annoying that stopped with the addition of the grips.

Congrats!! Carpenter pipe will fit just call them, and the have a new set of pipes out.
