SEAT WILL NOT CATCH

The problem is likely you aren't lined up between the post and latch. The post if memory serves was pointed on the end to fit the latch hole created by the latch spring bar and latch body. Spray some silicone on the latch mechanism and then give it a go.

I had all this with my 2017 Roadster, when transferring the duel seat from a previous bike. I finally sorted it by adding a couple of washers under the rear mounting, raising the tapered pin so it latched better. My worry was that if it did latch by sitting on it, the tension on the release cable would be so great it would break off the plastic pull-ring when you tried to open it. The washers worked well, and I fitted a long cable tie around the pull-cable nipple, so if the ring ever came off I could fish out the cable tie, and pull that !

It's the front one not latching. How raising the rear one affect that? I was on it just an hour ago. Had a suggestion that it may be the battery terminal. It's not that.

Simply do the same thing on the front ? - raise the catch with a washer under the catch mountings ? I'd also check the mounting points of the rubber buffers, making sure they align correctly. I've done this before with a dab of white acrylic paint, easily cleaned off. From experience, do one at a time 😎

The battery terminal issue seems unique to the Gen 2 Rockets 😟

Does anyone have a picture of side mounting battery terminals on the 2020+ models. I'm seeing mine were top mounted and rubbing the seat pan also. The original battery finally gave it up at 5 years so going back with the same.

I see why they do that. Geez what a tight fit. I thought there might have been a hold-down bolt there at first. It does have seat clearance with the terminals on the side. Thanks for the heads up.

I've put 1 set of washer under the latch housing, no luck. I'll try some more eventually. Starting to lose interest in this niggle. I can live with it till someone nicks my battery😁
