Wow! i saw an R3T riding down the road today! A monumental moment to say the least! That is as I've never seen one on the road before or after I bought mineI Ever! We must have a really rare bike, or a very unpopular one !

I spoke with Triumph USA earlier this year on another subject. During my conversation with the rep I asked how many Touring models had been sold in the states since they came out in 2008. The rep said about 750 total. Not very good sales numbers. He said they sold better in European countries.

I guess we own a rare bird. I hope they don't, but i would hazard a guess that if the Touring model does not sell well enough in the future to turn a profit, Triumph might discontinue it. Then we would own a classic! Or a museum piece. As long as Triumph continues to make OEM replacement parts for the beast we are good.

If they don't stop making such depressing colors (this year's and next years) they will lose another one. Since it is a touring model it would help their case to have cruise control and a topbox as well...a fairing and a stereo (not necessarily a high tech one) would complete it out nicely.

Just getting tired of black or black and creme colors, can live with the lowered HP (though they could leave a big fat 240 on the rear and give us back the regular HP and adjust the saddlebag width accordingly) and the TQ is fine.

Triumph...let's step it up a notch...this bike should easily have more than 750 sold (in the US...if that number is correct) and it could easily be remedied. Triumph is making great bikes all over the place...this one should not be as ignored as it is.

My current 1700 Thunderbird is a mile eater but I would rather have had the Touring if the color schemes were more "imaginative" and with some (if not all) of the previously mentioned improvements were done.

If Triumph can't or won't they need to change the name from "Touring" to the Triumph Rocket III Saddlebagger as the other Rockets and T-birds can do the same...boy I must have got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning:D.

I was at the shop a few weeks ago and was inquiring about trading my 08 in for a 12, the sales guy seemed less than enthusiastic, he says the new Tourings arent selling, and I was left with the impression he didnt want to get stuck with a used 08
