always told my wife that I can always serve as a bad example to others, seems its true. had ordered my Rostra CC from Murphsskits about a year ago and due to circumstances and the hellish Virginia heat put off installing it until a month ago. seems like by my usual luck of the draw I had received a DOA unit and did not know it until all wiring , mounting, etc was finished and began testing.

dead as a rock. verified all wiring. did all the listed troublesgooting and even wired directly to battery power. nada. no type of response, diagnostic lights etc.

contacted Rostra about warranty replacement since was 3 year 36k miles. still had 2 years and 36k miles warranty left. it seems they do not honor their own warranty but refer it back to the vendor who sold it. contacted Murphskits about 2 weeks ago and have not had a reply as of this point.

the moral of this story is with all of this top rate equipment coming from China, dont take it on faith that everything out of the box is alive and kicking. check it ASAP. even purchased 3 bad dishwashers in a row from one big box company. really pissed the store geeks off when we tested the last unit in store and it failed before leaving. they were rather apologetic afterwards. purchased number 4 from another store...

just a heads up. if I am unable to get this resolved / replaced, I will probably have a CC control pad, mount and a VSS signal splitter booster for sale. will just be dust collectors otherwise.

think I will just install a Breakaway and keep it simple.

Did you ever hear back from Murph's Kits? I was thinking of purchasing one myself. A friend of mine has one on his Concours and loves it.

I have fitted one to my roadster. Works well. A bit of a bugger to install,
I did post my results at the time.

Mittzy, which kit did you use? I was looking at the electronic kit which judges speed from a wire leading from the speedometer vs. the kit that runs off engine vacuum.

cruise control

It was my understanding from previous older threads that the cruise control using a vaccum is better for the R3.
Some guys use a separate vac pump from a car cruise control to make it work well, rather than going thru the trouble of hooking up to the VSS.
I am not too sure which way I will go, I am by no means an expert as I have not yet done my bike.
I will try and dig up the threads.

The vacuum system you speak of is the Audioxox brand. The Audioxox will hook up to the VSS with no problems. I have not installed one of the into a rocket

I like the magnet idea best. Where did you get the magnet setup? Is it an option with the electronic kit? I looked at Murph's site but didnt see it anywhere.
