I've never worried about gas mileage on my toys. On my highly modified Bonnie, with Tuneboy, I richened the A/F from 70% to WOT for HP gains. As long as I stayed clear of this throttle position, she got good mileage. Again not knowing about the Roadster since it's new to me. I'm headed down thesame path. More power. I'll see what happens with the mileage along the way.
Of course, this new toy makes it hard not to roll on the throttle.lol Put 160 miles on it today and am absolutely falling in love with the bike. My only disappointment, so far, is the tound of the TOR's. They are a lot quieter than I wanted. My riding buddies R3's with TOR's (3ea) have a good bark to them when you get on it. These pipes sound different. Getting lots of compliment on the matte black finish.

I dare say the jardine pipes do sound just the way this bike is supposed to sound short of the predator pipes. and the headers makes it flow better so maybe down the road check a R3 with jardine and listen to the sweet rumble, it is music to my ears mabe it will be to yours too.

Is it something about the ABS location that makes triple pipe TOR's incompatible with a roadster? 'Cause they are the same bike after all. I don't know where they put the brake unit, but standard R3 TOR's with the cat eliminator could fit just fine on one. That's always an option if you like the sound better. I know we like to talk about it like it's a new R3, but really ... what are the differences? If it wasn't for the flat black and the fat cans, would you recognize one riding down the street?

Your feet position is a dead giveaway. The forward controls make a huge difference on the R3. That's about it. don't like the 3 pipes. would love a 3 into 1.

It was the three pipes flaring out at the back that caught my eye .... I tried the D&D's 3 into 2 and they looked really nice on the right side. But that left the "busy" port side all exposed and "naked". I like the exhaust on the Roadster for the simple reason that the cans are HUGE, it would be hard for me to part with the triples but I'd swap my TOR triples for Roadster TOR duals just to have those gigantic tubes no matter what they sounded like. I'm sure they flow nice enough to match the performance of the TOR trips. That oportunity will probably come along one day just because they don't make them anymore and someone will prefer to "retro" a new Roadster (I hope).
I was considering those Jardines Pig9r was hawking if they came down more in price, but I realized I liked them for the headers and not the pipes, Now if they had big'ol fatties .... :D Someone needs to make headers like that for TOR's !
Never happy, always the quest for more  LOL , that's me.
Enjoy that new bike while you can, snow is forcasted all too soon.

Snow? What is that? You know, those clown feet looking pipes on my new bike are starting to grow on me. And thesound is good, not too loud, but different from the harsh bark of the other tors I've heard.

Well HF this is maybe the problem- the ABS unit is under the swingarm. This is taken with the LHS can removed, so you can see there's not much room. I don't know what's under there on previous R3's.Glad youlike the big cans-so do I- but a lightweight version would be better and save all that 12kg (each) weight at the rear end. Now who can make titanium welded cans I wonder with all the fancy colours?

That's where the "cat-box" used to hang on previous models ... maybe someone could do a comparison soon. Now I see why the cat's in the pipes now, the space is being used for ABS.

Under my roadster, the cross over has those two square boxes. Looks like the header goes into the box and then comes out into the exhausts. The TOR's I have eliminated the cats in the pipes.(lesser weight and larger thru hole) Are those boxes in the crossover holding cats also? If so, does anyone make one without them? This could be the sound reduction.
Trouble with being the first. No good **** available yet. Where is Sam when I need him. Does anybody know if he's working on a set of Roadster pipes? If so, I'll take a set.

From looking at the picture of the Roadster, the "cat-box" (as we had been refering to it prior to the Roadster) looks just like the old one except for one corner "cut out" for the ABS. Maybe the outlets are in the same place as the triples, it would make sense that Triumph would try to change as few parts as possible so other parts would remain compatable and re-tooling would be cheaper.
