Rocket Roadster

I think that this new look is great. I have a feeling Triumph has been looking at this site to get ideas. Alot of you guys have done great things with these bikes.

If Triumph would put bags on that achieved the same look as the Corbins plus make most of the accessories quick connecting ones, I'm sure they would take a huge chunk out of hardleys market share. I know its asking alot, but I'm sure there are quite a few people out there that would want a bike that could go from comfortable cruiser/tourer to one with that Roadster look. IMHO, I think that the bearclaw could have a bit of a different look...Vmax has those big intakes and its really a cool focal point...triumph should capitalize on that maybe have an opening in the bearclaw. Seems like there has been quite a bit of mods on here to show off K & N's that are installed, why wouldn't Triumph just go ahead and do that in the first place?

Overall, an awesome looking bike thats nice an fast..My last bike was an Interceptor, but have been renting Hardleys and now my wife will only ride on something that is as comfortable as an ultra classic, but good news is that she has sat on rocket classic and it got her nod of approval.

But I like that Rocket look and speed...but I need those quick connect accessories....Hope your listening Triumph

I like the new one. To bad I can only afford one. I will just keep the R3T. Be burning to many tires off anyway. Have a hard enough time after taking those butterflies out.

A set of K-Drive saddle bags (they just clip off if unlocked) and a 12mm box wrench kept handy for the screen is almost a "quick connect" setup. I have mine on and off so much I'm scared I'll wear them out. lol
It's really not a huge pain in the butt taking the screen on and off, the four 12mm bolts on the fixing kit are easy to get to and I'd be paranoid someone would steal my stuff if it came off as easily as a harley one.

Guys I am a Tiger owner today and thinking about swapping to the R3Roadster. The only worry is that my daily route is 10miles into London! I do get out for long rides every other week and my friend and I do an annual Alps tour of circa 2k miles.

Do you think the R3Roadster will be OK for that type of riding? Also I need to be able to cart my waterproofs and briefcase around. What do you guys do for luggage?

Cheers Chris

I'm not quite sure what your concerns are over miles, the Rocket is alot more comfortable than the Tiger. I commute from Delaware to Philadelphia nearly everyday at 80 miles round trip and enjoy the hell out of it. The wife and I put over 1,000 miles on it going to Niagara Falls this summer with lots of luggage. We weighed in at 1300lbs gross.
As far as luggage, I have a set of K-Drive saddle bags and a large leather sissy bar bag that I leave on the bike most of the time. I should have gotten the BIGGER K-Drive bags but these work just fine. I recomend the K-Drives if you plan to take your saddle bags off alot, the brackets that stay on the bike are chrome and nice looking when the bags are absent. But I think a paint matched set of hard Beetle Bags would look awsome on the Roadster, especially the flat black version. The Roadster exhaust would really compliment the Beetle Bags.

Thanks Hellfire, I will take a look at those Kdrive bags. And I agree that a corbin style bag would look awesome. Why not integrate a fold flat handle into them that would allow you to take them off and carry them away with you? Even if that handle was placed on the inside towards the bike so it was hidden so it wouldn't really change look...hmmm...

As for your fairing..I didn't know it was that easy to take on and off. Need someone to photo shop set of corbins onto roadster to see how they would look with that new exhaust. Would be nice if Triumph also designed a fairing that fit in behind the flyscreen so you didn't have to remove it when putting on a larger one.

And tunes...need tunes...hell...maybe even a bar fridge..

Hellfire many thanks. Do you have any links for the luggage you are talkig about. I haven't heard of any of the items and would love to chck them out.

Cheers Chris

The Beetle Bags are made by Corbin Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | Triumph Rocket III (3) | 800-538-7035 and the K-drives can be found about anywhere. A website with a large selection is Click & kick saddlebags Triumph . You can shop around for the K-Drives to find the best price but there is only one place to find the Beetle Bags.
I made the mistake of buying the smaller set of K-Drives, It would have been nicer to have the Big Ones for the extra room and locking flaps. They both lock to the bike and are really easy to take on and off so you can go hot rodding around naked.
I was picturing those Beetle Bags in flat black mounted to a new flat black '10 Roadster with those oversize dual chrome pipes, no rear seat, no sissy bar, just flat black with roadster clean lines .... I like it.

Hellfire, thats exactly what I was thinking...flat black beatle bags...solo seat, good combination there. Think it would be the perfect bike......would work well as bar bike and then throw sissy bar and fairing on and go cruising. If Triumph was smart they would have a set of bags designed similiar in appearance to Corbins, but only better, with a quick release and of course, cheaper.

I'm chomping at the bit for this one, and the good news is that my wife likes it.

I'm just hoping that the seat is comfortable or I'm screwed..lol.

Which seat, her seat or yours?
