Rocket Roadster vs Honda Valkyrie 2014

I like riding pretty much anything and reckon this would be quite an experience - but not sure I'd want to own one. Hope you have good luck with the new bike and enjoy it.

Congrats on your acquisition. Please keep us apprised of your experiences and impressions of the new Valk. Inquiring minds want to know...

We trudge on.

Will do .... Hope to get it registered and on the road in about a week, as only just got it out from customs duty clearance.

Whenever I see someone say or write that a Rocket doesn't handle I just know they either haven't ridden one enough, or simply can't ride very well. It's really just a cop out anyway, and a convenient comment to put in an article when you have nothing original to say.
The Valkyrie is just as stupid looking as the F6B, IMO.
They look like big scooters

The new Valkyrie is a great bike, I'm sure. After all, it's a Gold Wing they took most of the plastic off of, and those are very good bikes. But looks leave me rather cool as well - I'm sure it's a great riding bike, but not for me. There's something vaguely distasteful about making motorcycles the way you make cars - by putting different bodywork on the same chassis and calling it Gold Wing, F6B or Valkyrie...

sinai, i would like a little of your money not a lot jusat enough to buy a couple more bikes , oh, and an addition for the garage:)

First impressions of riding my 2014 Valkyrie is it feels quite small compared to the Rocket Roadster, even though it's a big bike, it's a bit like a stocky bull as wide as it is tall. It's very, very well balanced extremely low centre of gravity and a much lighter feel. Has a nice 6cylinder growl/burble to the exhaust note. (it's pretty loud for a stock exhaust) Seamless and effortless power surge as soon as you hit the throttle. So smooooooth..... Virtually no vibration at all and a very powerful ride with an instant smooth pull of torque in any gear. Haven't pushed it to see top speed yet as still break it in, not done the first 500kms on it yet. But defiantly a more powerful and sportier bike to ride than the Valkyrie Rune which I also have. (Better power to weight ratio coming in there)
No it's not as full on power as the Rocket in a straight line, but not so far behind and it handles very well with little rider input, it just follows your body lean round the twisties and corner and holds your line well. Great brakes too. The all round LED lighting system is pretty cool, didn't realise how powerful a LED headlight can be... It's very bright!
So all in all it's another fun ride, but a different ride to the Roadster which is one of my favourite bikes.

I spent some time at the Honda shop talking to a sales guy I know and he said to not judge the Honda by it's stock set-up. According to him, when he was at training, his rep told him there was huge amounts of power to be unleashed but the Honda brass demanded a 40mpg package. If you're willing to drop the fuel economy to the Rocket's say 30mpg with some mods, the new Valk should be a much meaner animal. I think the bike looks pretty nice in person, if you don't mind plastic.

I had a first generation Valk 12 years ago, and I loved the bike. I can tell it was more neutral and felt safer in the curves than my current 2014 Roadster. In terms of high speed wobbling it was at least equal. It looked very good, it was big and impressive for the time, and the sound was unique - after a few mods, of course. And it was very reliable.
The only thing that was missing: real power. I actually sold it because I was missing, lets say, 30hp.
And there it is: our fat girl. The Rocket feels just like it was made to replace the old Valk. It's meaner, bigger, stronger and looks like the next level of it. So what else could I wish for?
A turbo maybe...:D

Why bother with a turbo when you can Carpenter the bike up and get 240+ horses, naturally aspirated. :)
