I bought a used trunk from @Joesmoe a while ago and have done two long trips with it now, both nearly 2K miles each. I carried camping gear on this last trip and found that I cannot carry as much stuff easily with the trunk as I could with just the passenger backrest and luggage shelf. I too do wish Triumph would make a trunk specific to the Touring model so that we can carry the full campsite on the bike better. For now though, I will return the back rest for big trips and keep the trunk for my lunch bag.
This picture is of my trip to Sturgis in 2014: six man tent, sleeping bag, clothes for two weeks, rain gear, snack food/water, tire repair kit with pump, air-mattress etc.
This is me on my trip this week with a two-person tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, clothes for a week, rain gear, some snack food and water, spare 1/2 helmet, tire repair kit with pump, and a frog...
I surely do not understand why anyone would ever say a motorcycle is too fast to ride. Every motorcycle can be stupid fast if the rider is stupid. People said the VMAX was too fast to ride, bologna! Just don't twist the throttle that far...
