this is an odd thread !
i read it when it first came up and thought it was a tilt from the get go.
better if you think your stature is cogent to the post to just give the facts and keep the interpretations to yourself... like, i'm x'xx" tall, weigh xxx#'s, and i'm a girl so therefore i ride a tricycle. whatever
imo, this person opened the door to the responses that followed by describing herself that way... proper decorum notwithstanding of course

Solicitation, If I only saved that picture on e-bay not to long ago I'm tellying you and evey one I'm positive that is the same picture of the same trike and the same woman that is sitting on it.
I even showed it to my wife because I was saying when I get too old this is what I'm going to do to my trike .
I even asked my wife is this the same picture I showed you that was on e-bay and she even say's yes.

Hi Guys

Please aloow me to introduce myself. I'm John. Sonia's husband.

A few points.

This bike was on e-bay and that's where we bought it from. Since then (that was late January 2008 ) Sonia - who by the way is 47 - has covered some 13,000 miles on it.

As to the posting, your site was just one of the sites that the trip was published on. Interestingly enough, your site is the only site to have such quite frankly ludicrous responses on. See, there's this thing called irony .......

Your site was just another site that she same across hence the rather late posting.

As to the ride itself :

1. We were going to Russia anyway. Sonia just thought that raising some money for a good cause would be a worthwhile thing to do. Having said that I'm sure that some of you who have put negative posts on here will have raised considerably more, whilst looking like Tom Cruise/Mel Gibson as you were raising this money

2. Expenses - well we paid them all. Hotels, food, fuel, ferries. Anyone wanting afull IRS type audit, well I'd be only too pleased to comply.

3. She'll be handing over the money soon - all £5,000 - to the charity. It'll no doubt be publicised again in the bike press and on web-sites and will give the less intelligent/gentlemanly folk around the opportunity to have another pop .....


Just one more thought - I sincerely hope that none of your friends or relatives ever need the facilities offered by various charities throughout the world. But should they ever do so, please try to remember what you've posted here .......

I believe you.. I've seen that same picture.. and the same solicitation somewhere too..

Excuse us for asking some questions. Unfortunately there are few that have ruined it for many others. I hope your generosity never gets taken advantage of.

You know, you could have avoided all of this by simply reading the rules of our website and contacting the webmaster or myself before trying to solicit money. It was very poor manners to just log on and start asking for cash. We have allowed other charities to use our traffic and they had the decency and respect to contact us and ask first. Not you, eh?

I'm glad you were successful in your fund rasing, maybe in the future you can try and be a little more professional.
