2004 triumph rocket
hay all, ne two the forum and it would appear you lot know your stuff. I have just purchased my first rocket three and i love it! Power to burn, however I don’t think the previous owner knew as much as he thought. I feel like he’s leaned the bike right out causing issues. The beast has after market headers and one muffler, he’s also put a k and n filter in it. It is getting a lot of popping on deceleration and once hit the throttle runs on every now and then? Quite scary around corners... would this be a retune or could it be tps?

Ps the black pic with headers is before I wrapped it

Hello Cameron and welcome from Virginia. Congrats on your new ride. It sounds like to me a new tune is in order. Many folks here can lead you directly to the root cause, but maybe @HansO can step in now. This is the middle of his sleep cycle but because he cares, I bet he will wake right up to help. :)

Awesome, really love it just hoping it’s a minor tune and not the tps as parts are expensive here in New Zealand. All in all best and most fun bike I’ve owned

Welcome Cameron
Decel popping is due to the bike needs a different tune to account for the intake/exhaust mods. the run on............. yea, TPS - As Boog said, send a PM to @HansO & ask him to email you a tune to load up
The TPS might not be bad - probably just need to run an ISCV & TPS reset after loading new tune

Bugger! Was hoping the tps might just need adjustment? I believe they can tell when it’s plugged in via voltage readings. Our closest triumph workshop is 100 miles away so time

Most of us have installed "TuneEcu" on laptops or tablets that we use to make all of these adjustments - it's free for windows or $12 for android - you can load tunes, adjust throttle bodies, ISCV, TPS, fan temp setting, speedo corrections, ect - you will need to buy a cable from Lonelec to hookup to your OBD plug

Hey, another Kiwi. Awesome. Sleeves is the man if you're up Waikato way, he sorted me & a mate out with the Tune thing.

Awesome, does he have a company name? Quite happy to ride if the mechanic is decent at the other end
