These are called Road Trains here in Oz.

The 6 trailer one in the vid is at Macarthur River Mine and runs to Bing Bong on the NT coast to a barge landing for ore ships moored far offshore in deep water.

My mates helped build the infrastructure in the 90's and I visited a few times.
 
I just looked at the pics I took of El Canaco and I on the Coronado Trail and found that it was back in 2011. Yikes! It seems like it was just a couple of years ago, not 8. We stayed in Alpine for the night and rode the Trail the next morning. There was frost and light snow on our bikes when we got up in the morning so went to breakfast to wait until it warmed up. It was still somewhat hazardous with icy places on the road where it was still in the shade.

It's difficult to tell from your video if you are going riding to the top of down. The RPM of your engines suggest you are going uphill. Great vid.

For those who have not taken that ride, this pic was taken about half way down from the summit at Alpine. It's a long way down into those canyons and there are few guardrails. I had my 2007 Clasisic at the time but kept my VStrom DL1000 at Gord's winter place in Mesa.

I think I have about 5 hours of Coronado I need to run through Movie Studio for edits from Theresa and I's trip in early July.

Oh yes indeed and I even have some video of it.
Being one of my most favorite rides, I've done the 191 almost a dozen times.
I usually stop there for a mental focus rest after some excellent hooning.

Alpine to Morency then to Clifton is the Coronado Trail US 191 or the old Devil's Highway 666.
I found no adequate sleep in Alpine, so have always crashed in Springerville, a tad to the north.
The road is an ultimate twisty and reaches over 9200 foot elevation south of Hannigan Meadow.
We rode it southbound in the videos I took. It is a great ride in both directions.
The video segment I posted was southbound and south of Hannigan Meadow.

Yup, that's the one we took and then 70 at Safford back to Globe for lunch. We stayed at the one motel in Alpine and since it was the hunting season, were fortunate to get a room. There's a very unfriendly tavern across the street and what a bunch of jerks the locals were. Finally some of the Elk hunters arrived and we had some brews with with them. They were very friendly guys, ranchers etc.

A "dog" I met at the lodge. Just call me The Wolfman. She woke me up early in the morning scratching on my door. She was a real beauty and very friendly.

In the back of one of the hunter's truck the next morning. He was a farrier. Quite the rack.



And the ugly open pit copper mine near the end of the Coronado Trail. I can't recall the nearest town.
