Roadster Fly Screen Install Questions

Hey Fellas!

Winter is in full force, another day of -30c wind chills... still trying to keep busy in the work shop. Now that I've got most of my electrical components and accessories under control, I am now looking at my phantom black fly screen.

I've installed screens before but this one is a little different, requires removing or disconnecting the clutch cable? Why is this necessary? I haven't even had a chance to ride my rocket for the first time so I am a little worried about making adjustments or removing my clutch because I don't know if I am putting it back correctly at the right adjustment (I have never rode the rocket before so I dont want to start riding it with a problem with slack and not know the difference)

Is it possible to install with out removing the cable or is it 100% necessary. Are the instructions more complicated then they appear? (Example... Remove and disconnect battery cables?!)

I didn't remove the cable. It's not through the wire clip on the screen, but after 13,000 miles it hasn't caused any problems yet.
 
The wire cable retainer is on th esports screen also. I di not remove the clutch cable to run it thru mine either.

Interesting. So what exactly where they trying to accomplish by asking people to remove the clutch cable? Does it rub against the screen in some way that will cause damage? Can you not just maybe put some tape around the area that will be in contact with any part and prevent wear down? I also like the fact they ask you to disconnect the battery to install the screen.
 
Mine didnt come with instructions, but I never removed the clutch cable either
 
Good advice from the lid of a Wattyl paint can: "IF ALL ELSE FAILS, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS".
 
Have a good look at your clutch assembly set-up .. it's hard to screw up removing and replacing it mate.

I definitely well, however its one of those things that I've never seen done, I'm kind of a visual person... If there was a few pictures or a tutorial it would help out a lot. I tend to be a little cautious with certain things until I become more familiar. With my previous bike we had some great posts with pictures that show how to do most things, I'm still struggling to get familiar with the rocket.

Cabin fever sucks. If only it wasn't -30c in the mornings for the past....4 weeks. I'd be able to get out and ride the **** thing for the first time!

I did not realized you were looking for the big rear pad so my offer of the small one won't do on your sissy bars

I'm trying to figure out if its more sensible to buy the entire backrest kit since its $80 more then just buying the sissy bar and luggage rack and pad. I've had no luck locating a sissy bar used, checked the .com site, this site, ebay, craigslist all over the world.. nothing. Thankfully theres lots of time till riding season so maybe one will pop up.
