Roadster didn't start & check engine light

The distance to empty reset is a give away that the ECU was reset somehow.

this. also happens when you were doing some tuneECU or tuneboy fiddling with the bike.

check your tripmeters 1 & 2 to see if they were reset too

Something just occurred to me. These are the exact symptoms I had when my negative battery lead was loose.

Maybe check those before anything else. The distance to empty reset is a give away that the ECU was reset somehow.
I had same think in my 07 it turn negative was loose as well

The trip meters where all fine and not reset. I checked all the wiring and didn't notice any loose connections either.
Took her for another ride and now the check engine light is off! I read somewhere that of a problem is resolved the light disappears after 3 starts? She's starting up fine every single time and no problems at all - not sure what that was all about

if the trip meters (and clock) did not reset then that would indicate power connections are fine - but it would mean some error with the ECU. best get tuneECU and have it ready for if/when it appears again.
when was the map loaded, do you know?
