I just got back from my first "major" ride on my R3T, and I definitely have some adjustments to make before my next one.
First question - Which is the better Engine Guard to mount Hwy. Pegs on? The Triumph one looks a little beefier in the picture, but I would like to get a couple of opinions before purchasing.
And where do I get other cables, and how difficult is it to replace them? Since there aren't any risers that are made for the R3T yet... I think that I am going to re-fit it with different bars, and I am sure that I will need to replace the cables.
Thanks,
D.

D: I used the Rivco engine guards and installed them myself. Just be very careful on the jack placement and make sure the jack does not have either too much or too little tension on it. The reason being is that you have to remove the front engine bolt in order to place the engine guards on both sides. If the jack has either too much, or too little tension on it, then the bolt will either be too high or too low to easily slide back into place.

Then you take the chance of having the engine off balance.

Your other question, since you have the new touring model, I won't try to respond to because I don't know enough about bars for that model.

Thanks. I just replaced my bars before my trip, but after 1500 miles, I am re-thinking the whole thing. So now I am looking at having to replace the cables because I am going a different route.
I was curious about how heavy duty the Rivco ones were compared to the Triumph ones... in the picture, the Triumph ones look beefier.

Rivco Pros: Sturdier attachment & Look cleaner.
Rivco Cons: There is a reason they are called tip over bars!!
IMHO they are crap & should be called Radiator shroud protectors.
I only wish that there was a sturdier and wider CRASH BAR available.

Tip over #1 - Kick stand sunk into hot pavement in '06

Damage: Entire left foot peg and shifter bracket pushed in 1/4"
Handle bar bent in slightly
Two dings in tank - risers may have contributed to this.
Scratches on Rivco Engine guard, bear claw, tank, handle bar end cap,
clutch lever, & tail pipe.

Tip over #2 - Knocked down last week when an HD cut in front of me @ 5MPH

Damage: Scratches on Rivco Engine guard (matches left side now), handle bar tip,
brake lever, and new Givi Topbox. Ding in rear tail pipe and side cover (appears to be from my boot heal getting caught under the bike - no room for leg for sure!).

My recommendation is to have a custom bar fabricated!!!

I just got the new and improved Triumph bars. Very sturdy. I didn't have a chance to try the old ones, but from what I heard they were crap. Since I only have enough garage space to park my Rocket, I had the dealership install them. Glad I did.
