If ya want to use a ct do it if u want to use a mt do it but I won't listen to the rear wheel lock up rubbish that's the riders fault everyone knows 70 % or more of your braking power comes from the front its fact. I havent been riding half as long as most of u guys but I dont go grabbing the rear hard in a pannic . In my opinion if your still locking the rear up your not the rider you think you are regardless of how long you have been riding. And rather than blaming the product no matter what it's format bike or tire maybe u should be looking at freshening up your skills a little . This is absolutely not an anti ct rant I have nothing against the practice this is a anti people blaming the equipment rant it is the nut on the back nothing else .

why do so many riders use the rear brake!! unless you ride 2up it is nearly as useful as tits on a nun's chest at any speed only at or below crawling does it have some real effect that is why there are two rotors in front and only one on the rear wheel.
87% of braking dissipation is on the front .and the rear mean squat in a panic braking situation,
it locks up period. there is no weight on that wheel so it slide and sometime fishtail a bit, it will help reduce the distance only of a few extra feet

now in a turn at speed to change your line the rear brake is useful to slide outward otherwise like I say it is as useful as a screen door on a submarine
to experience the effect of the difference first hand , use a bicycle and walk with it and squeeze hard the front brake handle see what it does (it lift the rear) then try the rear only (just slide and keep you going forward) well it is similar on your bike. be it an R3 or any other with 2 wheels................amen pass the suds

and keep two fingers on that front brake handle when you ride in traffic so you are ready and forget that foot pedal

Absolutely couldn't agree more ;)

It is still difficult for me to transition to using the front brake as much as I need to. I wear out rear pads way too often. Because, I spent too may years on a 650 Tiger with 12 over front forks with a "bicycle" size tire and NO FRONT BRAKE!!! :eek: I am lucky to still be here.

You will not find anything in print any where with more truth than what Mitch just wrote, lay off that back brake and use the effin front one, do not grab any brakes just squeeze them like a nice juicy pair of melons:D teach this **** every week and hopefully some of the students retain it.:confused:

This thing resurrected; sh1t. :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Well apart from agreeing wholeheartedly with Albertaduke and Mitch I'd just like to suggest that there be a separate forum for Darksiders only where they can all violently agree with each other and not have to put up with anyone having a point of view they don't agree with or any factual information or research that they don't like and won't have to deal with those of us who are interested in the topic and seeking objective information. This is what they want; they keep saying that if you haven't tried one you shouldn't comment. And if you have tried one and didn't like it you're in some way misguided. Let them have their own place.

Then we need another forum only for those who do not use car tyres but wish to discuss the pros and cons openly and without being abused. These people would be free to peruse the Darkside forum for users' opinions and experiences but not post any comments there. And Darksiders may peruse the non-darkside forum but may not post their opinions or comments there.

Of course I know that won't happen but I'm sick to death of the way any discussion about darkside gets down to name calling and strained friendships and the way that any concerns people have are ridiculed on grounds they either didn't give it long enough, haven't used one, had the wrong air pressure, are just plain wrong or martians had landed. I respect anyone's decision to put a car tyre on a bike but it seems my decision not to is somehow flawed. What a strange, perverse way to look at it.

Just my rant and now I'm done with Darkside.

So does that mean you use the rear brake or the front? ;)
Darkside is the best way to go and if anyone says different they can .....................:p

I use both, and I don't lock my back wheel because I treat them (the brakes) like their a juicy pair of melons. :)
I perfer to treat them like my wifes fun bits, if I squeezed them to hard I'd probally get a Slap in the Face too, just like your bike will!! :D
