TriumphPhil called me in the middle of the frustrating process of trying to remove the defective rear brake light switch so that I can replace it. It was fortunate he did because I was about ready to take a fire ax to my Rocket. The first pic is of the switch with the boot off. The second is with a 3/8 drive 22 mm socket and 1/4 inch adapter & ratchet. The clearance at the top is insufficient for a deep socket with a 3/8 ratchet and the standard socket only goes down about 1/3 of the way, not allowing for sufficient purchase to break it loose. It just keeps sliding off.

Before I start to pull my left muffler and crossover (or revert to the fire ax option), has anyone succussfully removed one of these switches? Talk about a bad design. I do believe Triumph built the R3 around this switch.

Edit: I too am finding the new Photobucket process to be unsatisfactory. It used to link to a specific photo, and post it, but now just provides a link to my album.

Edit again: Screw Photobucket. I can't figure out how to post just the pics I wanted.

Not out in my shed at the moment; have no idea of the problems your having with R&R of the switch... can you try (I've done this before on other stuff) and not seat your ratchet fully into the standard socket and see if you can get enough purchase?

Mike, I keep all my photos here on my Computer, have you tried simply using the "Tree" icon above to simply access your photos on your computer then load them from there ?

This is what works for me.

Paul.

is this the same kiwis that gave us the Brittain and the Mcintosh manx cmon now ,how about a ringspanner:lol:

I did a Google web search and hit on a thread on the .net site. JHorton, who I believe is also a member on this site did the repair a couple of years ago. I PM'd him and he outlined the procedure. I won't need a fire ax after all.

Mike the new photobucket does kind of suck until you get uses to it. If you have several albums click library and they will show up on the left then slide the bar down to the specific library you want ans click it. when it opens up scroll down to the picture you want . You can not loonger wave th emouse over it and the IMG stuff shows up you have to click on the picture and when it opens up go over tot he right side of the page and you can then click/copy the img code to paste on your post. if there is more then one picture and they are right after eachother then when you run your mouse across the larg picture you just posted a arrow forward on the right and back on the left show up click it and the next picture shows up. then go to the right again and copy th eimg code to paste. if the second picture is not right after the first one you post go to the top of the page and hit the arrow back button and the whole album will show back up. it takes a little getting used to but you will and it is not as good as the old photobucket style. IMO.

Thanks Scott. It's late but I'll give it a try in the AM on this thread, reinstating the pics, even though the original brake switch problem is now resolved.

Testing, testing! Hopefully it will show up as an image and not a link to my album.

Edit: Yikes, monster pics.
