Recommendations on the most "bang for your buck" exhaust (loud)?

Hello,

I'm really enjoying my Rocket 3, but it's the scooter sounding exhaust I NEED to change. My previous bikes (vtx1300, stryker, high-ball, etc) all had aftermarket exhaust systems. They all sounded great, and best part, they all could be found for from $300-500.

I've read so many great things about Jardines exhaust, but I just can't put out $1,000+ for an aftermarket exhaust. :( I can wait/hope to see a used one listed on ebay but that may be months (or never).

That seems to leaves with the D&D and TORs, but is there anything I'm missing? Any recommendations on which one would give the most bang for my buck? Loud is good.

Finally, I'm I missing something with my cost/steps break-down below?

D&D or TORs Exhaust - roughly $500
Cable for update - roughly $20
Online tuning - free

I conducted a search, but wanted to see some newer responses. THANKS :)

Aftermarket exhaust systems for our beasts are sorta thin on the ground. The options you outlined are about right. You can pretty much forget about getting a Jardine exhaust unless you can find one on Fleabay as they are no longer in production. If you are looking for performance you need to be talking to Carpenter or Reband. The only other option I'm aware of is to design a custom exhaust yourself (several of us are working on that very thing). Depends on what you prefer with regard to style, sound and performance...there's always a trade off and you rarely get something for nothing. I realize this post probably doesn't help alot, but that's where we are from my perspective. If I were to get an aftermarket I would probably go with the Triumph Off Road (commonly referred to here as TORS) pipes simply because they are readily available

What year? The pre Roadster needs a bypass to take the place of the cat box which you should get rid of. The Roadster mufflers have the cat built into them. Not sure if that is true for the newer TORs.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 2011 R3 roadster. I believe that CAT is separate from the muffler. The bike has plenty of power, so I'm most interested in a louder bike.

I conducted a search and couldn't find any online stores selling the TORs exhaust. Are they only available at the dealer? Thanks

One word of caution...you are riding the largest production motorcycle on the planet...it will never sound like a V twin...it's not supposed to...it's a triple...ride it...enjoy it...learn about it first. My fat bottomed girl has been in a thousand pieces in my shop and I have two HD's that somebody else changes the oil on. When you are FINALLY ready to make a few adjustments, then get in touch with the appropriate folks and they will help you out. I don't mean to sound trite, but I was exactly like you are now...had to go faster...had to be louder...because I came from the V twin world and still have them. BUT...this aint no V twin...and in stock trim there's not a V twin that will run with your bike. Just sayin...one captain to another

Back to the TORs. The stock mufflers have the cat in the muffler. So the TORs don't? The Roadster has a crossover which is restrictive, right? I'd read that Staintune makes a straight through crossover.

Welcome Mate,
By the time you *** around with D&D or TORS and crossovers etc tune blah blah

I would buy the Reband (Oh I did :D) or Carpenter K&N or UNI air filters plus a dyno - AND pull + 40 Horsepower straight out of your monstrous engine.
Cheep horsepower Say $2,500:rolleyes:
My Numbers say it all
