OK so my splines are a little worn but the uni is notchy and needs replacing or rebuilding. The local universal joint/bearing supplies place,Hardy Spicer says the size of 52mmx24mm doesnt exist on their database.Has anyone got a source of where this can be bought or a part number? Other than that its a whole new drive shaft which I would be ok with but the fact that the female spline on the bevel drive is slightly worn as well and cant be replaced without replacing the whole bevel drive (grrrrrr!!!!!!!!!) .The slighlty worn female spline on bevel drive will compromise the new drive shaft spline prematurely.

A good machine shop should be able to help you out (especially if they have computer aided machining).

UJ. If ONLY the cups are worn - Any decent machine shop can do this. If the Spider is worn - it starts getting awkward. If the cup shoulders are in ANYWAY marked - Ditch it.

Female splines - depending on HOW bad they are - there are special wear compensating pastes/fillers used in heavy engineering for woodruff key seating and spline repair. There is a serious need to look at an oil bath for that rear diff' spline.

Thanks .Do you happen to know the correct name for these pastes/fillers?
.re;oil bath. There is also a serious need to properly re grease splines more often.Guilty as charged ,your honour!:surrender:

MORE often?????

If those joint sizes are correct, getting a replacement cross/bearings looks a bit snowball-ish..... nobody lists anything like it that I can see.

If you can get the joint apart, would a big grease-up make it serviceable??

I'll ask my mate the machinist about re greasing, but i would be surprised if that will fix it ,as it is notchy.
