re-gearing a differential

I'm having a hard time figuring out what you would be " breaking in" on a differential myself.

Each drive the differential gets cooler. Pulled the loaded trailer last night up some pretty steep mountain grades, the Ranger won't win any races for sure but it now maintains speed. The re-gearing did what I needed.

Burnishing the work surfaces must also be part of the break-in. CLICK

Popped the cover off Friday and let it drain overnight, cleaned it up and resealed the cover Saturday, filled it back up today.
The break in is complete so I drained out the cheap break in fluid and today filled it with Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-90 synthetic.
The magnetic drain plug had very little shavings on it but the break in fluid was black after 500 miles. I know at first it got pretty hot until
my 3rd 30 mile heat cycle so it was probably shot. I used Castrol non-synthetic for the break in.
I shouldn't ever need to get in there for at least 30,000 miles.
