Radial vs Bias Ply

50 years ago before a lot of tyre experts were born we rode as fast as our bikes could go on some ordinary tyres compared to the multi compound sticky hi tech ones of today and most of us survived, same as our cars cross ply and if you were doing it tough retreads ,regrooved tyres on the trucks except for the steer axle , todays tyre technology has produced a good selection of tyres for individual riders needs even in the bias belted format

Retreads with studs in winter.

What's a radial wheel?

Dunlop D251 is a MUCH better tire!

Yeah, on some online tire stores for the Dunlop D404 it says specifically "do not use on Harley Davidson"

And they put it on my bike as OEM! Go figure. Only thing why they might now say 'do not use on Harley-Davidson" is they finally realized what a turd that tire is. It's the Rocket I ride anyway!

Dunlop Elite 3 for me thanks good wear best feed back Tyre I have had my bike yet except the Smaller Michelin Commander 2 which was a sweet handling tyre with below average wear and no good if towing a trailer or Camper gave me serious understeer

Did you say you use the Dunlop Elite 3? What do you have on the rear?

Probably because they have a contract to supply OEM tyre for HD, and those tyres have "Harley Davidson" written in to them - probably so that they can charge more to replace as they all want HD tyres. or maybe I am just getting too cynical in my old age.
