Anyone ever experienced this? Doesn't do it all the time but a lot, rolling slowly to a stop there is a clunka-clunka- clunk noise. Like driveline slop.

Its going to the dealer next week but I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem?

Drive line slop is comman in the standard R3 also. The Rocket was the first shaft drive bike I have owned, so I have asked the same question in the past.

I think driveline slop is a bit harsh a term to describe what actually goes on Pig9r, and mine sounds like a blender at 95 Flip, that is when I CAN hear it. The difference in wheel slowing and engine rpm results in the torsional damper shaft making those adjustments which sounds exactly like you describe.

Mike, my R3 sandard does it all the time. if I am in 1st and ideling to a stop it makes a heck of o clunking sound, NORMAL say's my mechanic.

Tomo rode my bike so he knows what it sounds like and it's the front bearing on the TDU. It's more of a 'feel' at slow speeds, the noise, if you can call it that, is transmitted through the chassis and your body and it intreprets as a blender sound. High speeds 75 or so, negates the noise a bit. It's still there, but less. I'm also getting the 'rubber shifter' syndrome. It has a false 1st. gear and sometimes 2nd. as well. You go from neutral into 1st and the shifter flops around doing nothing. You have to wiggle it with your foot and finally it goes into gear. Same with 2nd. It's also getting progressively harder to find neutral.

At any speed, if you pull the clutch in and relive the driveline, all is quite as a mouse. As soon as the clutch is out, the blender sound returns.

No matter. Will be at Baxters soon. I'll let Gus figure out what's wrong.

Flip, Mike's TDU isn't going out. It's just taking up some of the power pulses at low RPM like it is supposed to. The Rocket makes soooo much torque at low RPM you have to have something to smooth out the driveline shock. All bikes have some kind of "cush" drive to do this. The Rocket's is a little more noticeable due to the amount of torque it has to deal with and is probably amplified a little by the drive shaft. Mine kind of clunks and bucks a little at times and its just a Rocket thing.

I can accept a little mechanical "character" but it just started doing this out of the blue. It is really noticeable and if I didn't know better I would say the clutch isn't fully engaging with the lever pulled in. It shifts fine though. Neutral is getting a little harder to find these days.

If this is an abnormal noise to your bike it would be best to have the dealer look at it and don't listen to me, since I haven't heard it :D. Mine does make some loosey goosey noises at times but its pretty much normal. Hopefully yours isn't making the same noise the Flipper is talking about
