Hi All,
This is my first thread so thank you...
I have a 2004 R3 with The Jardine System on it...I am completely satisfied with the performance of the pipes, but, they are just a bit too loud for me now...I'd prefer not to put the stock exhaust back on...
Has anyone tried to drill out the baffles on this system and quiet them down ?
Thanks!
Sorry Steve,
I have a set of Jardines and I've had the baffles out and repacked trying to make it less noisy... but my effort was wasted.
If you are handy or know someone that welds... you could make your own replacement baffles, or spend the money to buy Jardines 'quiet baffles' that don't help either.
You can extract the baffles by drilling out the two rivets on the inside of each pipe. It may take some 'convincing' to get the baffles out if you have rust, or carbon build up.
You could cut the two ends off of the existing baffle to reuse them. Fab a smaller diameter pipe and drill bigger holes. The existing pipe is large with very smaller holes so it doesn't do much for 'quiet' riding.
Personally, I'm not that handy...
A couple of folks have cleaned out the Stock pipes but they are definitely louder. You'd end up having to fab baffles for them if you think that Jardines are too loud. I think that Stripes has his drilled out.... maybe tDragger, too. Perhaps I'm right and they'll chime in.
Some folks have left the stock header and opted for slipons which give more noise than stock for a lot less money.
The short answer is that I don't think that there's a way to 'tone down' the Jardines.
