question to group: recently ordered ram air

good information; question--> I am just going to bring this to the dealership for the install (can they do the tune?)
I was advised by Mr. HansO to wait to install ram air until I did the exhaust too- I installed TORS Exhaust, gives enough breathing so that the ram air is effective...if it can't get out -it won't go in kinda logic. Did mine last week and what a difference in response -plus sounds great, I got the beast airborne on a dip in the road yesterday-

Dealer doesn't have the ram air tune available, and they can't (won't) use HansO hex files

you are correct yes- i spoke to the mechanic who works on my bike today at dealership and mentioned the power commander as an option but mentioned there is not a dedicated setting for the rocket. That you have adjust the settings etc (i.e. grey area)

Any reason why? - Not being provocative - I like to hear both sides of arguments.

While they're not illegal here if they result in any increase in induction noise then it's an offence to have them fitted. This also voids my insurance and I know of several case where an insurance company has not paid out on a claim when the assessor noted foam filters on a road bike.
They also have a ruputation for catching fire if the engine backfires - I'd prefer not to have a fire directly underneath a tank containing 25 litres of 95.
The Ram Air setup also has a reputation for breaking / cracking. I hate to think what would happen with the force of a backfire.

I understand it's a personal choice but it's not one I'm comfortable with considering the negatives.

Here's a relavant TriumphRAT thread on the topic worth a read (Unifilters specifically but yes they are a foam filter)

What a Wanker!................ Put that Ramaire on, install appropriate HansO tune & get ready to never be able to frown again. Throttle response? YES! Fuel mileage? Who gives a shat? I'm thinking a bout tying a knot in my throttle cable so the beast won't separate itself from my pants!!!! :D
Beautifully and elegantly put ....and exactly what I was thinking

Let me pause whilst I laugh my stones off. While clearly you have a problem with foam filters and yet your wondering about a departure from OEM GOD LIKE specifications by even considering something other then what triumph deemed best. Just seems like transgender confusion. :D

Humor is great:)
