question to group: recently ordered ram air

Do you think he really likes using a plastic oil container to hold his tank up or that he doesn't know there is a tank holdup rod on the side of the engine. :whitstling:

:eek: say what ? Is there ? Wish I knew that before I used a plastic oil container to prop up my tank ! :confused: :laugh: :laugh:

As much as I hate to say it, he wouldn't be the first one, in fact some have posted here and were told what that strange piece of metal was for. It happens. ;)

Serious?
That was the real reason for the oil bottle prop?

:eek: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :p :p :p
Heck, I thought it was just to open the tank a tad wider.

I don't know if that is why or not but I do remember threads about the tank prop, either how to prop the tank or what that piece of metal is for. If someone has never had their tank up they may not even know the prop rod is there, at least on a Touring. I don't know how obvious it is on the other models. But someone will always tell them and they are happy after that. :)

@Bob R
Not if one READS his owner's manual!
That would imply full comprehension of the written word.

Like DO NOT DRINK THE CONTENTS OF THIS BATTERY or DANGER MOVING PARTS - DO NOT PUT FINGERS INSIDE. I think we should add "do not try to catch once fired" on to ammo boxes.

I sometimes use a small block of wood to prop the tank up if I don't need it ALL the way up, especially if the blighter's full. i.e. Throttle cable replacement.

i was hoping for an increased in throttle response and maybe just maybe fuel economy but this video he sounds against this mod..
Sadly the internet is full of experts. An EX is a "has been" and a SPURT is a drip under pressure. There's enough experience on here (both professional and other) that most after market filters for the R3 improve things. I happen to use a RAMAIR too - but I've tried most options - even made my own.
