Hi all.
I have had 4 good years out of my 2005 R3 running a Pig9 scpecial tune ,tuneboy, K&n's and Japanese sports pipes. Anyway had the symptoms of the dreaded faulty TPS and bought a new one from my dealer after trying the tuneboy reset. The newest TPS has different part number but appears to be identical to old one except for a small o-ring. The new one has lasted 2 months and **** itself on 1st 100 degree day. I was hoping some of you maybe able to share your experiences and maybe photos of the metal shim hombre mentioned a while ago that goes along towards fixing the problem. They charge $300 oz for the tps in Australia robbing bastards!
Cheers Mav68:confused:

I saw the thread and it looks like he took the photos down. He is that way. Maybe Warp9.9 can help out or he can at least send you an invite for Hombre's site. But if I recall with the TPS he also claimed the Suzuki TPS would work when it apparently didn't?

You know if you have removed your secondaries you could switch the primary TPS with the secondary TPS, they are the same part, one just has a longer lead than the other.

Mav, Brian I remeber Walt talking about the shim as a test and I never heard of any results of it maybe that was due to the new style TPS he never posted picture of it either. and is out of the country for a month starting this weekend and according to him will not be answering any e-mails while he is gone which sucks cause I need to pick his brain also.
Maybe you have got an old one I hear the new ones insides are blue on the inside here is the part numbers of the old and new so you can check.
Old TPS # T1245003

NEW TPS # T 1245113
I will call around and see what prices I can get for you Mav but there is only one dealer open tomorrow as most are closed on Mondays
Now tuesday I can check with my parts guy to see if one is available and what I can get it for. if you want and if it is cheaper I can order it and post it to you.

If yours is the old style I would complain to the dealer that he sold you a piece of kangaroo dung and see what he can do I will check for you though.

I do this all the time with Pedro and the shiping does not take to long either.

until then if you have to run I would swith the primary and the secondar out as Brian stated.

Thanks for the replies. I read all the posts after the bike started playing up. It only did it on occasion at first and I thought crook fuel. It was the new part number I ordered for the replacement and it looked the same except for a small o-ring. My dealer is pretty good and is chasing a replacement from triumph for nought. Its nice to be able to print some forum banter to present to dealer that highlights the problem.
Cheers mav

Mav,
Just because you ordered the "new" one,
doesn't mean that's what you got.
I'd pull it off and check the inside of it.
If the internals are black, it's the old one.
If the internals are a blue color, it is indeed the "new" one.

I'm back in the same TPS boat as well. Took a nice ride to Goliad, TX to check out the missions and learn a little bit of Texas history and the TPS acted up the whole way. I'll be checking in with the dealer Tuesday AM... :)
