Hi fellow Rocketeers,

it's been many many years since my last post, I have been busy and the bike has been running good for the most part.

I have had a couple minor issues with the bike for 4 years and I decided I should take another shot at them. I could use some advice/ ideas on them.

First issue: POWER. When I go WOT (90-100% throttle) I get more power / acceleration as I ease off the throttle a little to about 75-80% throttle. That is consistent on all gears, weather, altitude, engine temperature, gas type etc. Keep in mind I still get very acceptable power and that is the reason I left it tat way for so any years. Another symptom is I think my throttle is quite "touchy".

I have changed plugs (old ones looked good), Primary TPS, air filter. There are no stored codes. Among other things I have tried different tunes, cleaned crankshaft sensor, sea foam, balanced throttles, injector cleaner (in gas) etc no change. The bike definitely doesn't run rich,

After 3 years I am now taking a third look at the issue. The TPS values are smooth from 1 to 100%. Throttles are 410 410 420. ISCV is 0.56v instead of 0.60 (I swear it was on 0.60 when I changed the TPS 3 years ago). Could that be the issue?

I originally suspected a faulty ECU or secondary TPS. Before I swap it out is there a way to test the secondary TPS?

As far as other sensors (MAP, barometric, Air temp, o2, Crankcase) seem to be ok but one could just be out of tolerance. Does anyone have values to compare them or testing methods?

Last thing that comes to mind is the gas filter. It was supposed to have been changed by the dealer 5 years ago but who knows right? Is it worth the trouble to change it? My logic is if it was the filter the condition would have worsen in the last 4 years as I put another 30k km on it.

My bike is a 2006 R3. Tuneboy, K&M under seat filter, Cat box removed, stock pipes and pretty much every accessory in the book. The bike is 80k Km and received the kit at 40k km.

Thanks for your help and ideas guys!

Fuel filter. Definitely worth changing. Can clog up enough at any time from one or two loads of dirty fuel. Or various other ways..........

CORRECTION: So I paid more attention as I rode yesterday looking at values on the Scangauge. I get maximum power at 45-60% Throttle depending of gear and RPM, more throttle actually gives slightly less power.
As an example on 5th at 3000RPM opening the throttle at 45% gives the most power.

I will definitely explore the gas side of things. Now I'm thinking it could be the fuel pump, filter or injectors.
Off hand, does the Rocket fuel rail have a port for injector cleaner?

Sorry, can't help you with the cleaning port, but for a fuel filter I bought a NAPA Gold 3032 for my 2010 Roadster. I assume all Rockets are the same.

Did this issue start suddenly or gradually came on, getting worse with time/mileage?

What tune have you loaded and when was it loaded wrt when the issue started?

Have you been to a dyno (or get a wideband o2 sensor with gauge) to see if you are going rich or lean in this powerless WOT situation?

Can the bike go all the way to redline ok, when in gear on the road?

You Def don't have any piggyback fuel or ignition controller like power commander or dobeck?

I agree with changing the fuel filter. But just for the heck of it with the bike shut off look under the front throttle body at the hose clamp and roll the throttle and verify the throttle linkage is not hitting the hose clamp. If it is loose the allen screw androtat the clamp until the screw is on the out side towards the oil tank cap. You won't have to go all the way to clear the throttle linkage.
