I had no luck with the PC3 for the same reasons you mentioned.
They didn't have anything close in their "maps" to what I had.
I didn't want to invest in a tuneboy for a couple of reasons.
One being, I don't own a laptop,
the other being it just looks to complicated.
SO,,, I went with a DoBeck EFI controller.
No cd's to worry about, nothing to download from an exterior source.
Just order it, put it on and ride.
I like that.
If you want to adjust it,
its a self contained unit about the size of a credit card
with 3 buttons to adjust your fuel mixture at idle, cruise, accelerate, and top end.
Also if you're a vet, you get a significant discount..
Just FYI, the guy that invented the PC3 and sold it to Dynojet,
his name is DoBeck, and he says this is far superior without the hassle.
