Nah, I just wondered what the heck it actually is that cause's this rattle
Back in the day a bad natch of lower crank gears got thru without proper heat treatment. They were soft and started developing a sloppy rattle as the keyway in the gear got larger. The most I heard of was about 3/16" slop
That was from Gus at Baxter's in Marne Iowa.

HMMMM, nah, I don't thin k it's that Warpo, that would be a consistent noise, this is not.
 
Paul Warp is correct. The sound only happened at a certain RPM range.

Also some of the early bikes had a similar sound that was caused by the oil pump cavitating. Same thing only at certain RPM range and temperature.
