I just finished installing the ramair and got caught in the rain (i hadnt put the bearclaw back yet). it made me think, shouldnt we apply some oil like the uni filters use? Its not brought up in the instructions and i havent heard it mentioned here. Dont see how it would hurt and should help repel water.
You can buy a recharge kit from ram air, it is a thick product different than uni filter oil. I have had filter on for over a year and still looks like new and have not cleaned it yet
They use and sell Rock oil, its a water washable oil, the cleaning solution is specific also, some have just washed with soap and water and used k&n oil. I buy there cleaning kit like 20 bucks and it does atleast 2 cleanings with a little of the oil left over.
I do clean mine with Dawn dish soap. Rinse it rather well and let it dry completely. I follow up with the ramair oil. The dish soap is used to clean oil off of little ducks and such works great on the Ramair.
