I check mine while in the upright position with the engine running... hot.
While using a flashlight I shine it into the tank. There is a baffle there inside the tank and as along as the oil is right there at the baffle all is good.
I always achieved different readings while using the dipstick so using this method I find more reliable.

LIKE MULLY I ALSO CHECK MINE WHILE RUNNING OR LIKE WARP SAYS (sorry caps)

Try running it for a minute or so. Then shut her down count to 30 and check it.
So you in a you tube video today, guy was test riding a rocket with his boy, the reason, guy doing a wheelie on a rocket, You, get it warp9.9 u bad

Sorry did not mean to piss you all off. Warp9 pretty much nailed it in his comments on how to check the oil level.
No problem. I should have done a more thorough search to be fair. I have never come across a bike where the oil dribbles away from the reservoir before.

My Nortons and Harleys did. The Norton would pump it back into the tank but the Harley would push it out onto the ground
