Normal Deceleration Popping?

I actually like the sound.
I've been known to come off the throttle rather quickly to get more popping. Its fun to watch my brother or friends faces when they hear the beast snorting.

Hey Guys. Just wanted to find out if this sounds alright. My 2012 Roadster is 100% bone stock, not a single thing has been added or removed from it. This is my first non V-Twin motorcycle. On my previous bike I had a TRE and a FI2000R and I got amazing fuel performance out of it, super smooth.

I just notice that when I am engine breaking on the roadster, from 3000 to 1500 rpm or so I can hear some decel popping but its very quiet, it kind of sounds like this if you imagine "Vroooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooommmmmmm" with evenly spaced gaps if that makes sense.. Since I dont have a fuel controller can I assume that this is a condition happening because of running lean?

I don't think anything is wrong with the bike but just wanted to make sure that sounds normal... I also notice that if I am coming to a stop from a fast pace to a quick stop, the RPM's drop down to around 500-600rpm and sound like its a little out of breath but if you leave it it just gradually gets back up to 850rpm and idles smoothly. It hasn't stalled at all on me but again, just wondering if thats how other peoples bikes are. I have 1500kms on the bike in total.

Other then that, it runs supremely smooth while accelerating and cruising, no popping or uneven operation.

Ricochet, Can i ask wats the fuel efficiency you get. Mine is 2012 complete stock i get fuel efficiency ranging from 155 to 170 Miles for full tank!!

Because traffic is terrible in my city I can usually get around 130 miles per tank, and on the highway I am still waiting to find out its true mileage but I estimate it will probably close to 160 or so...

For people getting 200-240 miles per tank I have no idea how that is physically possible unless you fill up and run out of gas with out stopping once and keeping exactly 80kph the entire way

Thanks!! I am just breaking in my bike and have 550 miles! all rides i did were mixed (traffic and free roads)! Me too wonder how someone get 200--240 miles ???

took a trip around southern Arizona. rode 125 miles very little stops 55-65 used 3.25 gallons equals 38.46 miles per gallon times 6 gallons equals 230.76 miles per tank
get a lot less in town.

I'm going to try use a lower octane fuel and see if I can improve my mileage a bit. I've found that using 91 octane hasn't provided any benefits and the mileage seems much worse. I have 180km on my tank right now and I have to fill up. The traffic in my city is the worst, possibly in the world next to some places in China. Even 1 hour north of the big city in a regular suburb its stop and go traffic almost all day every day even weekends.

I have a 2005 with TOR's, cat delete and triple K&N's and have close to 80,000kms on the beast and regularly get 300 kms per tank when touring (and having to keep the Polack's tail lights in sight so I don't get lost). Must be the traffic that is killing your gas mileage. I live less than an hour north of you. I only ever use 87 octane. I also get 60-70 kms after the fuel light comes on.
