Hi guys - new to the Rocket, the community, and excited about my purchase - 08 touring, 26000 miles. Took her on the freeway home and the trans sound noisy to me, and some vibration found in the feet area - is it that the footboards are mounted basically to the motor, and I'm just not used to it? Bike has great service history and has been basically babied. Are they all like this I wonder, maybe you guys could put my mind at rest? thanks in advance. BTW I did test ride a roadster (brand new) that seemed quieter but could have been because the pipes were louder, no windshield etc - basically a different animal really, mine has the very tall windshield

Yank that windshield off and go for a ride. See if you still hear anything different from the Roadster you rode. I've found the windshield really amplifies the engine sounds, especially the tall one. I suspect your bike is just fine.

Good idea - I'll give it a go, I have the lower windshield too so if it is quieter w/o any windsshield I may try that one instead. What a gorgeous looking machine !!

Transmission will "whine" due to square cut gears. They also "clunk" when going into gear for the same reason. Just the nature of the beast. Check "free play" on the clutch and make sure there is some. I use a nickle for free play between the perch and the lever. See if this helps?

thanks guys !! Different New Baltimore - mine is in Michigan, the square cut gears makes sense - I have ZF in a 92 Vette and it sounds similar
