No one told me . . . self cancelling turn signals - how cool is that

The Signalminder is purposely designed to delay the 10 second signal cancellation cycle until you release either one or both brakes for good reason.

Generally only use my indicators when a cop car is in view .. living in a city without traffic lights (all major intersections are roundabouts) .. spoils you I guess.
New Triumph were selling a relay that would self-cancel I seem to remember.

Please forgive if some of my posts are tiring to folks who've covered the ground . . .

The last time I had self-cancelling turn signals on a bike was when I owned a Honda Pacific Coast. Loved that bike, sad it did not gain wider acceptance.

Several times when riding the rocket I would look down and think I had forgotten to activate the turn signal. I focused on making sure I was activating it, seeing the green indicator flash, and sure enough, shortly after turning, the green stopped.

Neato.

I was also under the impression, from the dealer, that the Rocket Touring didn't have self canceling turn signals either, but was happy to realize after riding that it does. Specifically the manual says...FYI.

The indicator self cancel system becomes active eight seconds after operating a direction indicator. Eight seconds after turning the direction indicator on and when the motorcycle has travelled a further 65 metres. That translates to 213 feet.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear. I may have chose the wrong post to reply to. I was just saying....my dealer told me that the turn signals on my bike didn't self cancel when I bought it. I was just stating what my Triumph manual says about the timing in seconds and the distance parameters under which they self cancel. A definite feature I like to have. The only problem I have found is if I signal early, they may switch off before I want. People should be aware of the parameters for the turn signals so they don't go off before you want.

FWIW, my dealer said the same thing. (and I go to them for service with great trepidation)

Seems to me, that distance is required as well as time. I've noticed I can sit at a light for a long time with the flashers doing their thing, and then, only after turning do they cancel.

Oops... senior moment there, Hans. As usual, Steve (1olbull) is at the root of my confusion.
