Why are folks still fitting PC's to their bikes when we have Tune Ecu which we can use with a 15 quid cable? Can you do stuff with a PC that tuneecu can't do? I'm generally curious because from 2 what I've read I thought tuneecu had pretty much made PC's redundant for our bike

There are many more dyno tuners out there that understand PCs than TuneECU. If you're doing it yourself, then TuneECU is the obvious way to go. If you want to be able to go to just about any shop and have them run a standard dyno run to update then a PC is required.

Exactly correct

Another thing I'd note on this is that getting a standard TuneECU tune onto your bike will cost you 20 buck/quid for the cable, depending on location, and about an hour of time.

If you're still not satisfied, or want to push the tuning further, take it for a dyno.

But, it's also about cost/benefit, and that 20 in your choice of currency is going to take you a pretty long way.

Rather than dyno tuning, I'd personally put the money into replacing the filters under the bear claw, and pulling out the underseat filters to get it breathing a little easier.

The cost of the dyno will also take you some way towards new pipes too.

Work out how much you want to spend, and budget based on what you think you'll get for your money.

Dyno tuning is great for that last couple % optimization, but that's also generally the most expensive for what you're getting.

I have TuneBoy, TuneECU, PCV and AT.

I purchased the TuneBoy many years ago when it was the only thing available. PowerTripp dyno tuned it with that. TuneECU will do some things that TuneBoy won't do, but if you have a HIGHLY modified bike then TuneBoy may still be the way to go.

TuneECU is the most cost effective and essential tool that you can get for your bike. Everybody should have it! The Android version costs a couple of dollars, but I would suggest sending a donation even if you get the free PC version - it is that good.

I bought the PCV/AT because I had made some additional changes to the bike and was not able to geet to a dyno tuner. The AT function will retune my bike to where I want it to be, and so is cost effective for me.

I have a touring rocket. I have seen a couple of posts dealing with tunes and exhaust mods...to give the touring model a little boost...

I have to say, I have no idea what this means...and what is a tune and how do I apply it to my bike...I know I am an idiot but I like to ask questions and learn...
Plongmire
This post is from an 09T owner purchased in 11 with 2200 miles on her. She was the largest crazy bike. Rode her for four years and without any major modifications and I learned to love and respect her due to stock torque. This year I did the tune by Tripp built my own exhaust cross-over and switched to the Dark side. With all the found HP and Torque she still does 40 mpg at 70 and the dark side provides traction and stability and longer tire life I am hoping since the 200 mc tire just didn't hold up in mileage categorize. Ride when you can and stay safe.

Genuine question, not a dig.

You are correct that it's not necessary, however it does carry two separate tunes which can be used like for a nitrous set up.
I decided to keep mine hooked up just in case.

There is a list of some Tune ECU tuners on the web site.
I believe a tuner worth his salt (like Wayne Tripp or mine, Nels Byersdorf) can work either!
I would bet Neville Lush can work either system?
The science is mostly the same and only the software is different. IMHO
I'd start by checking with pro racers in your area who tunes their motors?
