I have one of the first Bosstisgood turbo kits on my rocket. Well now after several years and a few speed bumps; the original filter was just falling apart. While the boostisgood website sports pictures of replacement filters for around $50 that match my style exactly. In the real world, they don't stock that type of filter anymore. They have since changed the design so that the filter slips onto a splined housing. My housing is smooth, old style.

After a few conversations with bryan at boostisgood, his suggestion was to tear the turbo apart and send him the housing and he will modify it so that the new style will work on it. Since I wasn't interested in the extra expense and down time and me just being lazy, not wanting to tear my bike apart, I began searching for other solutions. I finally found someone that was willing to make me one.

The old design

is enclosed on the front and breathes from around the sides.

The new filter breathes from the front and the sides. Sorry, no pics of the new one yet. What a difference it makes. With the old filter I was getting 8-12 lbs of boost, depending on how hard I push it. With this new filter I'm getting over 15lbs of boost without pushing it that hard. The only drawback i've seen so far is that it really doesn't like the rain. The old filter caused a little sputter in heavy rain. but the new filter really brings in a lot more moisture. I have to really keep the bike revved to keep it running in the rain.

What do you have that on - A Hardley... The latest boostisgood kit with Garrett turbo also lets the air filter ride just above ground making it way to susceptable to rain and road dirt... My dealer went back into his trucking shop where they take care of the Freightliners and cut a hose to extend the filter up through the original filter box. He had to cut a hole on the bottom of the box... Yeah Bryan does do some odd things... Did he mention the stage II kit for the Rocket as he has to others???

Mike...

That picture was just for reference for the type of filter. From bryans website.

The first & last hardley I owned was when I was 12 yrs old. 2 stroke 90, made in italy.

Mike,

All our Garrett kits have always come with an aluminum oval and rubber elbow to duct our turbo air filter up to the original filter box.
Here's a screen shot of a picture out of our installation manual.

I am not sure why Tim didn't use this on your install.

I don't know... I got the impression that the filter up under the box was something they had to do to keep it less exposed.. I may have misunderstood them.... Given the pages in your install manual, I stand corrected...

Mike..

The parts that come in our kit do place the Turbo Filter completey inside the old air box and out of way of any debris.

I will ask Tim about yours the next time I talk to him.

Too bad I don't have my old air box... No turbo for me.

Your kit feeds off the stock exhaust setup though right?

I'd have to send my pipes to Sam for rework since I dumped that lame ass stock setup long ago.

Yes, our system utillizes just the stock header. I would not run the stock system for normally aspirated performance, but it works great with the turbo. Plus it keeps the Sleeper look to the bike which our customers enjoy.
