I have one of the first Bosstisgood turbo kits on my rocket. Well now after several years and a few speed bumps; the original filter was just falling apart. While the boostisgood website sports pictures of replacement filters for around $50 that match my style exactly. In the real world, they don't stock that type of filter anymore. They have since changed the design so that the filter slips onto a splined housing. My housing is smooth, old style.
After a few conversations with bryan at boostisgood, his suggestion was to tear the turbo apart and send him the housing and he will modify it so that the new style will work on it. Since I wasn't interested in the extra expense and down time and me just being lazy, not wanting to tear my bike apart, I began searching for other solutions. I finally found someone that was willing to make me one.
The old design
is enclosed on the front and breathes from around the sides.
The new filter breathes from the front and the sides. Sorry, no pics of the new one yet. What a difference it makes. With the old filter I was getting 8-12 lbs of boost, depending on how hard I push it. With this new filter I'm getting over 15lbs of boost without pushing it that hard. The only drawback i've seen so far is that it really doesn't like the rain. The old filter caused a little sputter in heavy rain. but the new filter really brings in a lot more moisture. I have to really keep the bike revved to keep it running in the rain.
