I think the moral to this story is don't get to caught up in the details ....ride one then judge it on how wide your school boy grin is. how long it lasts and how many days or weeks it takes for you to stop thinking about doing it again .....then go buy it as don't think buying a near 2 1/2 litre motorcycle is a sensible thing to do anyway

Why test ride it? Last July on a Wednesday I was on site awaiting access permission to go to the top of a 22 storey block of flats to change over the DC power system for Vodafone. Sat for a total of 8 hours just waiting, but boredom set in quickly, and I started Googling bikes. I’d only been sat there for 2 hours and I had already arranged p/x for an XVS1300 and bought the R111, delivery arranged for the Friday! Made sure the wife was at work first though...

Hello again,

This past March I went down on my Rocket, luckily I walked away with a light scrape on my lower back and a sore neck but no injuries.

Insurance totaled it out and I moved on. I repainted my 80’ Yamaha xs400 and rebuilt my 82’ Yamaha Seca and sold them both.

I’m once again looking for another Rocket to enjoy. There is an 07’ standard not far from me that caught my eye and I hope to join the Rocket world again soon. Here is the carnage of my beautiful roadster and my other bikes I’ve sold.

Ouch! I suppose, in hindsight, the reason most guys fit the front/rear crash bars is to prevent that sort of damage occurring. Glad to hear that you are alright bar a couple of scrapes. Mind you, you need the scars to be able to embellish the stories a little when telling the tale. Any more details/photos of the 07' you are looking at? Or should you wait for the new R3 to be released??

I’m likely letting the new one to be released or confirmed so I can get a used bike for less. I’m not looking to finance a new bike again. “Near me” is a loose term of a 6hr drive away. It’s an 07’ standard with silver engine and floor boards. Ad says 31k miles and it’s been posted for a few months. It has a short GP m4 eBay style can for the muffler.

Everything else near me is either a practically new Roadster with brand new level prices or Tourings with 60k miles.
