New Bonnevilles

HEY the BOLT is a smaller engined 942CC V twin it looks good in a HD sportster styled way but the TRIUMPHS are 1200CC so that puts them in a different class so how can you compare the two lets wait for a road test and Dyno results and then you can truly compare bikes . Thats why we always DYNO and DRAG strip test all the bikes we modify the proof is in the pudding as they say. YES and im sure the new 1200 twins are going to be popular and will make impressive power when modified
I wasn't comparing the bolt to the 1200cc Bonnevilles. I was comparing it to the Street Twin. Oh.

The STREET TWIN is OK but why stop there when you have a 1200cc model ?
I'd love the 1200cc model, but it's a tad over my price range. When I first heard about the liquid cooled 900cc ST, I just kind of assumed (yeah, never a good policy, I know) that an all new, liquid cooled motor would make more power than the outgoing air cooled motor. So I was a bit disappointed to find out that it actually made significantly less.

I understand that the ST's mission isn't compatible with a screaming top-end power band, and that tuning it to provide good low end torque is the smart way to go...but they took that idea waaay too far this time, in my opinion.

I dont know why they made the ST as a low rpm low end power only model but I see riders on the forum asking for that very thing SO maybe Triumph will have a winner and sell them like hot cakes even if they wont make any power over 4000 rpm we will see how they sell

My experience with bonnie and thrux owners is that they don't really ride hard or fast, maybe just the guys around here, but most of them are into the small twin triumphs for the image and comroderie of a different flavor than the HD type.

Those type of riders will be very well suited by the lower end torque.

On the otherhand, neutering the small twin may be a way of making the 1200 twin seem like a value to a buyer why test rides both, and thus justify the drastic pice difference between the ST and the ThruxR.

What is funny though, is that every single Dayton 675, Speed Triple, or R3 owner I have come across has generally been a rediculous Hoon, myself included.

Reading what has been posted has really helped me out a lot on making a decision. A 06 or better thruxton is good to start with. Simple but a lot of potential for vast improvements. Considering after the launch of the new Bonneville's the price of the old version should be fairly cheap. Here in Oklahoma we have some really great mom and pop machine shops in OKC. There are two that work on Bonneville's and really know their stuff. With close to $10,000 dollars to play with and a working knowledge of the bike I should be able to come up with a bike that not only has superior suspension but also a hell of a lot of horse-Power for such a small bike. It will not have Traction control, throttle by wire, or any of the features that some think are necessary. Call it old school if you want. What it will have is a very strong engine and suspension to match. Since it will be a second bike ( The rocket X primary bike) we can take it to the limits on performance with out being real worried about reliability. ;););)

1st stop if I was sitting on a wad of cash and a thrux would be carpenter racing!

2nd stop would be traxxion ak-20s and Wilbers shocks.

3rd would be BST.

I plan on using all resources at hand both local and some not so local (Carpenter) 2nd stop is a give me it only makes sense.I just would like to build something special and believe the thruxton is a good platform to work with. Harley's have kind of been a disappointment for me. A really slick Bonneville parked next to the Rocket X would be nice . Still have a lot of home work to do but looking forward to it.

My current life goal is to smoke my Bridgy all the way to work....so far my best effort is about 70 metres....11.93km to go...

WE did a modded Thruxton for RYAN REYNOLDS the movie star
I think details will be released in 3 weeks, doubt hp will be high.

Carpenter racing has a rapport with Triumph & do a nice kit for the 865 Bonnie
Hopefully they will do a top end job for the 1200.
Should have mine done before then I hope.
WE are waiting to get one from Triumph to modify
