New Bonnevilles

Did a little more research on the new Bonneville's. No thank you. I would be better off buying a older model and modify it myself. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
The other side of this is are the Triumph twins bikes you want to ride are they confy are they fast enough are they bikes youll enjoy riding or do you just like they way they look ? I say that because you can buy lots of other bikes new and used that will out perform the retro bikes for about the same or less money . The important thing for me is the bike has to be comfy and then I look at the other attributes I like really fast bikes that handle and stop that I can ride all day anywhere I want to go on road . There are lots of fast sport bikes that I hate to ride as they are torture racks so I would never buy one because 99% of the time your just cruising down the road and not racing . So then I have to find a bike that does it all and is comfy and the Rocket is one that can do that and does it even better when modded and is making all the power I need to put a smile on my face . There arent any other comfy bikes out there that have the potential of the Rocket all the other cruisers are too slow and dont handle or stop as well and they cant be modded to make the power I want .

I have always like the Bonneville's. Fun to ride and look sharp. Would I take it out for a four or five day ride? No that is what the Rocket X is for. Would I take it out and have some fun on a Saturday afternoon? Hell yes. Sure everybody knows there are better bikes out there to build from as for speed but speed is not everything. ;););)

YES that makes sense I like them as I had them back in the sixties and the new 1200cc twins should be fast too I like the look of the Thruxtons very nice

I expect the Carpentered 1200s will probably end up at the 140hp (ish) mark. Very excited to see just how much magic fairy dust Bob can sprinkle into them!

I rode one around Europe for 3 months in 1970. Had one in 2004 for about 6 months and it hurt my hips. Today? No way.

Really 140 hp? Have you been inhaling the magic fairy dust?:x3::x3::x3:

Stock Rocket ~125 whp - Carp head/cam/pistons 240whp 92% increase
Stock Bonnie ~55 whp - Carp head/cam/pistons 95whp 72% increase
Stock 1200 motor ~90whp - Carp head/cam/pistons 140whp 55% increase

seems like history would suggest 140 is too conservative a number....

Given Triumph tendency to leave their production motors in a pathetic state of tune, and Bob's ability to find HP in a motor that was left on the table, 150+ might be very achievable.

Wow that is real interesting. I was planning on using wiseco products. The 1200cc conversion kit is rated around 104 HP. Maybe I am missing something here.

ACTUALLY Carpenter has a 265 HP package that has larger titanium valves and a higher lift longer duration intake cam and we have made 255 HP with a 240+HP package as you have a choice of pistons with up to 13 to 1 compression So we can more than double the stock Hp of a Rocket

Thats just pistons no porting or cams I guess
