New 185 dollar fuel line every 5K?

ok I am thinking out loud here so bear with me. First I looked at the parts on World of Triumph parts. And your dealer price is in there not that it aint a fleecing

Anyway I am assuming it is the part number 27 which does not include the fuel rail just the two hoses the short steel line that raps around the back of the tank and the banjo fitting. So My question is if that steel line is corroded? I would take a look at it. Because if it is not and the rubber hose is leaking I would wonder why since they would have to crimp the hose clamp band to the fuel rail why can't they just replace the two rubber hoses and crimp new hose clamp/bands on them. That pipe is coated for corrosion inhibiting I find it hard to believe it is bad unless you live near the salt water and yet I still have not hear of Florida Rockets suffering from that and they do report the corrosion problems on the bike.
Like I said I am just thinking out loud.

i agree with warp.there are places where u can take the hose and tell them to replace the hose if leaking.
if u do replace hose(with banjo) i would pay shipping to have it so i could make a pressure tester.
 
Thanks guys! I called the dealer and talked to the owner...It is a corroded fuel rail and he will save it for me. He said it is the first one they have seen in a LOONG time and I do not know if this bike sat in a corrosive environ. As far as the seal on the Fork...He used a "Seal Swipe" (all greek to me) and will have the tech test it once the bike is back together.

These guys seem like stellar folk and I have been through there a bunch of times when my Buddy had his Triumph Tiger 800 and they have always been solid with him.

So....it all seems good I just need to get a service manual and learn more about this machine.


It must be a coated aluminum rail as aluminum is FAR more susceptible to corrosion than 304 SS.

Aluminum is alot lighter so it stands to reason that would be used but next to Magnesium and Zinc..Aluminum is highly susceptible to galvanic corrosion.

I have a friend that lives in Daytona and he lives by the beach and his Harley looks like crap he never cleans it and everything is corroded its a junker after hes owned it for two years
 
xlr8tion, may I ask what dealer you are using? I use Ridge Motor Sports in Batesburg, SC Is that the same one you're using?
