The local Triumph dealer has an all Black Touring Rocket III on the floor. No demo unit as of yet. Cheap bastards! That RocketIII Touring, with the black engine as well, is awesome looking. The salesman says there's night and day difference is slow speed handling; I'll have to take his word on that.

Salesman quoted $499 for the silencer upgrade system for the 08, including the dual silencers. Three time I got his confirmation that the upgrade included the muffs; and, three times I told him to put it on paper and he's got a sale. I'd manage to mount it to my 07 someway or somehow. I like that ground parallel dual set up. Perhaps I appeared too anxious...he began back peddling and wouldn't put pen to paper.

According to the service manager neither the front nor rear mud guards (fenders) will fit on standard model RocketIIIs. The fixing points for the front fender, by my measurement, is definitely different. I like the extended length fenders ;)

The turn signals, particularly the rear, look like some advanced thinking went into the design; rather than the dangling afterthought appearance of earlier setups.

I saw one at my dealer on Saturday. Also black with the TORs. It looks like each pipe has a small cat instead of the big box. I was impressed with the bike and would consider one if I was Jack's age.:D I really like the speedo and how it incorporates a fuel gauge and mini info center. The rear fender is narrower. I think the bike would look funny without the bags on. The front tire and fender looks wider than the standard Rocket. Overall I would say just a nice bike. They should have done cruise control though.

When I bought my ride I rode a standard and the touring around the lot - a very slow and short trip to be sure but I did notice the difference..... One thing I like is the distance to empty calculator - in particular since the tank only holds 5 gallons - so far I have 225 miles and love it - cruise control would be nice though - perhaps one could add an aftermarket?

Are the turn signals automatic cancelling?

Yes - the turn signals cancel automatically. The digital display has the odometer, a clock, 2 trip computers, and as I mentioned the DTE clock.

Other differences that may not be obvious from photos - no tach, and clutch and front brake levers are not adjustable...

I'm glad they got with self-canceling turn signals but I can't understand why they made the clutch and brake levels not adjustable. Maybe they're designed to automatically adjust.

I have a feeling with your lack of wrist discipline, the touring variant would be boring in short order.:D
