First of all, TuneECU is awesome. If you're the least bit computer and mechanically inclined, you should have TuneECU.

My bike has been surging at cruise speeds for a while, and I was finally tired of it. My dealer is only an hour away, but I have had little luck with them troubleshooting anything. Everyone says TPS.. TPS.. but thinking back to carb days, throttle bodies being out of synch can cause this too.

So I wiped and loaded an old laptop I have with Windows XP, and followed the intructions to load TuneECU and associated components. Once hooked to my bike, TuneECU picked up the ECU right away.

PAIN! - You have to remove all of the intake plumbing to get to the throttle body synch screws!!! ( Triple K&Ns in the near future! ) Which isn't bad.. but then you have to put it all back on!! Oh well, it's not as bad as my Trophy 1200 where you have to remove the carbs to change the air filter!.. Anyway, TuneECU is awesome and I was able to get the throttle bodies synched spot on.

Since I was there, I figured I would try and load a new map and see if I could get rid of my PC-III. I researched a few and ended up choosing Power-Tripp R3 TORs with underseat K&N off of the TuneECU custom maps site. I am running Jardines, but the only Jardine tunes I've been able to find were for 3 K&N filters, which is a big difference in air. I looked the settings over and was happy, so I loaded this tune. Then took the bike for a spin.. ( still mostly unassembled.. lol... luckily I didn't suck a bird or something into the intake!..) The bike ran much better.. with more popping on decel than I would like, but I figured once I got the intake plumbing back on that would calm down a bit..

I got back and decided the bike was running good enough to put back together, so I got her all bolted up ( one of the dang clamps on the plumbing took me 45 freakin' minutes to tighten! One tiny turn at a time with an allen wrench! ) Then took the bike for another longer run.. with varying speeds up to about 90... and the bike is running great!.. I think this tune loses a some on the low end that I had before, so I once I spring for 3 K&N's I'll probably look for a better tune, but right now it's running better than it has in quite a while.. Just in time for a road trip to Shreveport, LA in a couple of weeks.. :)

Glad you got it working for you. I've been very pleased with TuneECU.

Order your 3xK&Ns from Flip and make sure that you get the 2 little filters for the crankcase and air sensor.

Yep.. I have one of Flip's first sets of brake line clamps, handlebar wire clamps on the handlebars, and the Rocket III radiator grill cover.. and I need to order a case of the Black Rock leather treatment he carries.. as well as the triple filters.. :) A picture of my front fender with the brake line clamps installed is in his "customer photo" section..

Flip's a great guy, I've had the pleasure of meeting him at RAA III.. and hope to meet up with him again sometime.. :)

Here lately I have wanting to hook my bike up to TuneECU and this thread just builds my confidence up even more. Good job!

The Staintune system alone should require a new tune. I'm not familiar with what the Staintune system requires, but I would think atleast the TORs with cat by-pass tune.
I put links to the tunes on TuneECU's site. There are also tunes people have posted on here and the .com site, just have to do a search on TuneECU and look around.

Here, they have all the Triumph tunes that your dealer would load

Here, they have all the 'custom' tunes that have been submitted by folks like us.

Hey TXRIII....I saw in your post that you got rid of your PCIII and installed TuneECU....any interest in selling the PCIII to another fellow Texas rider?

This is the information I wanted thank you but how do I go about comparing the tunes with the stock tune to see the differences in the ignition and air fuel ratio.

I know there is a compare feature, but I have not used it yet. There is also a feature to convert PC-III maps. The intruction manual is very helpful though. and once loaded, you can get comfortable with some of the features before hooking it up to your bike.

Took the first ride to work with the power_tripp TOR/underseat K&N tune off the TuneECU site and this tune actually runs pretty good with my Jardines. I may have lost a tad of low end power with this tune, but it runs really smooth, the mid range rush and top end is definitely all there! If you have Jardines and stock intake/underseat K&Ns, it's definitely a tune to try out if you're running aftermarket exhausts..
