Muffler fell off

1000 miles ago I had a triumph dealer replace my tires on my 05 R3. This past weekend my RH lower muffler fell off going down the interstate. Is it common practice to remove the RH lower muffler to remove the rear tire? The mounting bracket doesn’t look bent or damaged , it broke off the catalytic box tube because the bracket wasn’t supporting it.

Last Summer, a chatty Kathy tried to engage me in conversation and started talking about how nice my 09 Rocket looked but questioned why there was only 1 muffler on one side and 2 on the other side. Wanting to get out of there, I expressed shock and told her that one of my mufflers must have fallen off and I had to leave immediately to try to find it before somebody drove over it...

For the Touring with a single pipe on either side it is common per the manual, but not required if you have a lift with enough clearance. Could be on the older models that the axel bolt gets hung up on that lower muffler. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Hope you are able to get it resolved.

I’m just looking to see if it’s common to remove the muffler for tire replacement , There is the chance the tech forgot to bolt the muffler back on after sliding the end on the catalytic box. Luckily no injuries to me except in the wallet !

I just spoke to dealer , YES they do take both silencers off for tire replacement. Dealer said bring it in so they can look at it.

It's their fault. Many remove the muffler to get to the axle nut.

Someone didn't torque the mounting bolts or passenger peg as they're supposed to be.

Sorry for your ****ty mechanic experience, always frustrating.
